Accessibility

At Temple of Things, accessibility is not an afterthought, but a fundamental principle. Our work is based on the conviction that environments should be inclusive and ensure equal access and usability for everyone.

As TIL 2–certified accessibility specialists, we carry out professional accessibility reviews and provide consultancy throughout the entire building process. Our work is grounded in current legislation and industry standards, with the aim of creating environments that are functional, sustainable, and welcoming to all users.

By integrating accessibility at an early stage of the process, the risk of costly adjustments later on is reduced, while creating stronger conditions for environments that function well over time.

  • Ensuring accessibility throughout the entire building process.
From early design stages to completed environments.

  • Identification of shortcomings. Proposed solutions that meet requirements and work in practice.

  • Preparation of accessibility review reports. Used for building permit applications and control plans.

  • Accessibility audits of existing environments. Documented observations and a clear list of measures.

  • Final on-site inspection. Issuance of a final certificate prior to the completion meeting.

Selected projects

CAIA, Flagship store

CAIA Flagship Store in Stockholm is a refurbishment of an existing retail space, where the commission involved the role of accessibility specialist. The work focused on ensuring accessibility and usability for people with reduced mobility and orientation abilities, integrated as a natural part of both the design and construction process.

The scope included review of construction documents, site visits, and accessibility audits, as well as the preparation of accessibility review reports for building notification and final approval. The work was carried out in close dialogue with the client and the wider consultant team, ensuring that regulatory requirements and functional dimensions were met without compromising the store’s architectural and spatial expression.

The project demonstrates how accessibility can be thoughtfully and respectfully integrated into commercial environments, where function, wayfinding, and design work together to create an inclusive whole.

Nyby Uppsala, Fortis Fastigheter

Nyby Uppsala is a residential development in Uppsala comprising newly built housing, where accessibility has been treated as an integrated part of the project’s planning and execution. The project includes both buildings and associated outdoor environments, with a focus on long‑term usability and solutions that comply with regulatory requirements.

The accessibility work involved review and coordination of solutions in relation to current regulations, with particular attention to the usability, orientation, and long‑term functionality of the dwellings. The work was carried out in collaboration with the project’s other disciplines and spanned several project stages.

The project serves as an example of residential development where accessibility is regarded as a fundamental quality aspect embedded in the project’s structure and decision‑making rather than addressed as a separate or corrective measure.
